It gets a B+ Dec 25, 2010
By Trogdor
"burninating the countryside"
The base functionality is there - you can execute HTTP get and post statements, you can make a simple web server, you can easily perform UDP send/receive.
The reason this gets a B+ instead of an A is this:
- The SDCard reader does not work without 20+ hours of hacking. The card reader functionality is basically non-functional.
If you search the arduino forums, you'll see the posts, and all the crazy things people have done to rewire the SD card part so it works with the existing SD card library.

CAUTION!!! 3.3V Plane under screw hole May 04, 2011
By Jonathan Cefalu This board works pretty well. I am very pleased with it with the exception of the 3.3V plane directly under the screw hole on the corner of the board.(visible in the lower left hand side of the picture) If you use metal spacers they will short to ground at the Arduino. This will cause the board to power on then for 1-2 seconds and then shut off due to short circuit protection in the regulators. This is dangerous and I highly advise removing the pad around the screw hole.
This board also includes an inverter on the SS pin. So when you disable the SS Pin (Disabled: High) It disables the SEN pin as well (Disabled: Low) This means that when you disable the card it will also disable the cards SPI bus prevents it from messing up all other SPI devices which are connected(Serious problem on V1)

Work great, not the easiest shield to use Jul 25, 2011
By Auton I bought this for a hobby project with my Arduino. It works pretty well with the official Arduino Ehternet library, just make sure you follow all the instructions on the example documentation page. My only real complaint about this shield is that it burns a lot of pins, AND it requires a six-pin ICSP header. Even though all the necessary signals for the interface are also available on the regular header pins. This means that you can't stack this shield on top of other shields. The RJ-45 ethernet jack is also very tall and makes it difficult to stack other shields on top of the ethernet shield. Even with long "stacking" header pins, it is too tall for the pins to seat fully. I ended up making a custom sheld with a cutout to allow me connect other shields.

Ethernet Connectivity Dec 20, 2011
By David F. Amos Appears to function as described. There was some work and internet surfing required to come up with a correct URL specifier in order to obtain a response using the Arduino example program.
useful product Apr 09, 2012
By Derrick DaCosta This product is good for the everyday hobbyist of microcontrollers and electronics. I would recommend this product to other electronic enthusiasts.
